Room to Read

South African boys reading

Help me spread our love of reading.

I’ve set up a fundraising page with Room to Read, an amazing organisation helping children in low-income countries to learn to read and write.

Starting with a target of $2,500 – we will be able to teach 50 children to read and write for one year. It’s really not a lot of money, for the impact it will have on the lives of these young people, their families and their communities.

Perhaps it is as easy as remembering the next time you buy yourself a book to donate the price of one more book to this cause. You probably won’t notice it but they will! Thank you x

Founded in 2000 on the belief that World Change Starts with Educated Children®, Room to Read’s innovative model focuses on deep, systemic transformation within schools in low-income countries during two time periods that are most critical in a child’s schooling: early primary school for literacy acquisition and secondary school for girls’ education.

We work in collaboration with local communities, partner organizations and governments to develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children and ensure girls can complete secondary school with the skills necessary to negotiate key life decisions.

Room to Read has benefited 12.4 million children across more than 20,000 communities in 15 countries and aims to reach 15 million children by 2020. Learn more at
